Hot Destinations 2023: Italy

My quick take on the hottest destinations of 2023... Starting with…. ITALY (shocker)!

Now that we’ve established that REVENGE TRAVEL, is in fact a real thing, let’s talk about where people are flocking to this year.

Through my consultations with clients as of late, I’ve noticed that people are eager to go further than ever before. That 10-12 hour flight that might’ve deterred a traveller 3 years ago now looks like an unforgettable adventure! And after a few years of actual lockdown and daydreaming, that travel bucket list is looking pretty awesome!

Italy has always been a crowd favorite, so it’s not surprising that this continues to be my most requested destination by both honeymooners and families alike! However, what is surprising is the new range of regions that people are interested in exploring! While Rome, Venice, Florence still reign as the perfect trifecta, I’m excited to see new places added to this list, including Turin, Puglia, Tropea and Sicily! *I’ll be heading to Puglia this summer, so stay tuned for more updates on that*

Italy is a unique country, in that each region has its own identity, from culinary specialties, to cultural differences, and even language (dialect), there is so much variation. I’d even venture to say that you can have several types of vacations just within the country boarders. Looking for a historical and art-focused experience? You’ll obviously want to hit Milan, Rome and Florence. Want a lazy couple of days of food and wine? Then you should consider the Umbria region, or the “green heart” of Italy. And more southern regions like Puglia and Sicily will fulfill all of your European beach dreams!

If you want a “taste” of the real Italy, it’s important to broaden that map and hit multiple destinations! If you’re feeling really bold, renting a car is also a great option! This gives you lots of flexibility for self exploration, (though I’d only recommend this outside of major cities, since traffic is hectic).

Italy is calling—now more than ever before! The country will experience droves of tourists this year, which means that ample planning is not a suggestion, but required. Want to chat about your next Italy trip? Let’s get started!
